Chargers Set For Division II Team Challenge

MEET SCHEDULE | LIVE RESULTS

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's and women's track and field team are traveling back north for the second time in as many weeks as the squad competes in the NCAA Division II Team Challenge hosted by SPIRE. The meet will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, in Geneva, Ohio.

The one-day event begins with the women's pole vault on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. CST, while the women's distance medley relay kicks off the running events at 9 a.m. The last event of the competition will be the men's 4x400-meter relay on the oversized 300-meter oval which is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.

UAH enters the weekend after completing a successful performance at the Indiana Relays last weekend at Gladstein Fieldhouse. On the men's side, senior Josh Moshier broke the school record in the 5,000 meters (14:51.22) and fellow classmate Richard Wilson hit another NCAA Provisional mark in the 60 meters (6.92). Moshier's school record marks the third program standard that has fallen this season for the Chargers.

The Lady Chargers were led last weekend by junior Kedeshia Simpson clocking another NCAA Provisional qualifying time in the 60 meters (7.73).

In the national rankings, Simpson and senior Latrice Johnson hold the 10th-fastest time in the 60 meters with times of 7.70. Moshier's converted due to track size 5,000 meter time of 14:53.42 has him ranked 19th while Wilson sits at 25th in the 60 meters with a time of 6.92.

Up next, UAH returns to the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala., to compete at the Vulcan Invitational. The event will be held over two days from Friday, Feb. 10, through Saturday, Feb. 11.
