INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Alabama in Huntsville track and field team will be represented by freshman Katelin Barber and the women's 4x100-meter relay squad at the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced on Tuesday.
A total of 620 participants, 310 men and 310 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.
Barber is the lone individual qualifier for the UAH program, as she will compete in the 100 meters with the 17th-fastest time in the field. She reached the championship meet after clocking a career-best time of 11.85 (0.7) last weekend on May 11 at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
The 4x100-meter relay squad of freshman Eden Williams, junior Kedeshia Simpson, freshman Mariah Tolbert and Barber enter the championship meet with the 11th-fastest mark in the country. The quartet clocked the qualifying time of 46.18 at the Samford Multi on May 5.
The championships will be held May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colo., at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl. Colorado State at Pueblo will serve as host of the championships.
