HUNTSVILLE |
The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team scored 100 points for a sixth straight game to open the season while once again breaking program records as the Lady Chargers defeated visiting Judson by a 136-30 score. UAH improves to 5-1 with the victory.

The 136 points represents the highest total in program and Gulf South Conference history, surpassing the old mark of 134 that this year's team established against Hiwassee in the season opener. Additionally, the team scored 84 points in the first half to break the mark of 76 that was also set in this year's first game.

Every player in the UAH lineup scored yet again, and nine of the Lady Chargers scored in double figures led by Jasmyne Reeves who scored 21 and grabbed 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. Reeves scored 11 of her points in the first half, while Jasmine Hammon tallied 15 of her 17 in the period to help UAH establish an 84-16 lead at the half.

Other Lady Chargers who registered double figures included the following: Dina Saunders (18), Alysse Bishop (15), Juanice Newton (13), Jordan Smith (13), Shannon Steinert (12), Halle Jarnagin (11), and Josi Saunders (11).

Steinert went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc, helping the hosts shoot 15-for-21 (71.4 percent) from downtown, while the team's overall shooting percentage was a season-best 64.0 percent as the Lady Chargers connected on 48 of their 75 attempts.

The strong shooting night created a 106-point margin of victory that represents the highest mark in program history and the second-biggest win in the GSC record book.

UAH also broke the school record for steals in a game – again, a mark that had been set against Hiwassee – as it recorded 33 takeaways en route to forcing Judson to turn the ball over 43 times. The Lady Chargers scored a stunning 77 points off of the turnovers, and the team also dominated in bench points (79), points in the paint (60), second-chance points (32), and fast break points (35).

Strong on the glass, UAH grabbed 50 rebounds in the contest while permitting Judson to record just 16 boards.

The Lady Chargers will return to action on Dec. 14 when they begin conference play with West Alabama at 3 p.m. at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.
