Lady Chargers Fall In Two Contests At Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Wrapping up play at the Gulf South Conference / Sunshine State Conference Crossover hosted by West Florida, the UAH volleyball team dropped a pair of decisions on Saturday, losing 3-0 to Eckerd before falling by the same score to Saint Leo.

Eckerd took its match from the Lady Chargers by set scores of 25-18, 25-9 and 26-24.

The Blue and White hit .120 in the match – its attack percentage boosted by a .267 performance in the third frame – while the Tritons turned in a strong .365 conversion on swings. Eckerd was particularly impressive in the second set as it recorded 17 kills on 26 attempts and just two errors for a .577 percentage.

Jessica Ruple led the team in both kills and digs with five and 10, respectively, while Kelly Wilson picked up 11 assists.

In the match with Saint Leo, the Lions won 25-23, 25-15, and 25-22.

UAH was outhit by a .337 to .141 margin as Ruple again led the way with nine kills and eight digs. Wilson tallied 22 assists, and Kaeli McCaghren matched Ruple's number by recording eight digs as well.

The Lady Chargers remain on the road their next time out, traveling to West Alabama for a rematch of the thrilling five-set contest from earlier in this season in Huntsville that the Tigers won. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m.
