No. 2 UAH Back On Track With Win

Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 2 UAH men's basketball team rebounded from its Friday setback, defeating Auburn-Montgomery at the West Florida Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday by a 61-46 score. The triumph moves the Chargers to 4-1 on the season, while AUM falls to 2-7.

Most impressive in the contest was the defensive effort from the Blue and White as the squad registered its fewest points allowed this season a day after letting North Georgia score 83. The Chargers held AUM to just a 34.7 percent mark from the field – also the lowest number for a UAH opponent this season.

The teams played a relatively close first half, but with the score 21-17 in UAH's favor, the Chargers went on a 10-2 run to push its lead out to 31-19. At the halftime break, the score was tilted towards UAH by a 33-22 margin.

The Warhawks were never able to threaten in the second stanza as UAH built up as much as a 19-point advantage in the frame en route to capturing the win.

For the contest, Jaime Smith led the Chargers with 17 points, while Zane Campbell chipped in with 15 and five rebounds. Grabbing a team-best six rebounds, Srdjan Boskovic helped the Blue and White outrebound AUM by a slim 33-31 clip.

Josh Magette finished the day with six assists, five rebounds and four steals.

As a team, the Chargers shot 23-for-50 from the field and were able to connect on just five of their 24 3-point tries. The team was quite disciplined as the group combined for just eight personal fouls on the day.

The Chargers will now return to Spragins Hall to take on former Gulf South Conference foe Harding on Monday. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
