Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Despite a strong effort, the University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team fell 3-0 to Shorter on Tuesday night inside Spragins Hall.
The Lady Chargers (10-19, 4-10 GSC) lost all three sets by just two points to a very talented Shorter (19-5, 9-4 GSC) squad.
The first set was fought past the 25-point win mark until the Hawks earned the 28-26 victory in the first set. UAH trailed 24-22, but took the next two points to knot the match at 24 apiece. A kill and an ace for Shorter gave them the 1-0 match lead.
The second set would have a similar tune for UAH, as they fell 25-23 and again had a chance late to pull out the set victory. For the second straight set the Lady Chargers trailed 24-22, but this time could only take the next set point and an Anna Graham kill gave the Hawks the 2-0 lead.
UAH was put in the advantage position late in the third set as they led 24-23. Fueled by a couple of errors, Shorter ran away with the next three points and the 26-24 set and match victory.
It was a strong and concerted effort for the Lady Chargers, who fought and played one of their strongest matches of the season. Although they would fall 3-0 for the fourth straight match, this defeat had a different feel to it.
