Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lady Chargers rolled over Stillman College on Tuesday night at Spragins Hall, taking the nonconference match in straight sets.
UAH (7-6) wasted no time with the visiting Tigers (9-10) as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening set and never looked back.
The Lady Chargers took the first set by a dominating 25-6 score.
Ashton Baker serviced a rally from 7-3 to 16-3 that left Stillman with no hope. In six of those points, the Tigers didn't even get the ball back on the Lady Chargers' side.
The second set was played a bit more competitively, but UAH went on a couple of runs midway through to come away with the 25-16 second set win.
It was
Kelly Wilson and
Olivia Bauman who helped service those runs, taking the 13-10 score to a runaway 22-11.
Angela Thurmond picked up four kills in that time, while
Kristin Wyatt and Jordan Lambert also added a couple.
UAH sent the fans home early as they cruised in the third set 25-14.
Stacey Sargent dominated the set, as it would seem she was servicing every point. Sargent did service nine of the 25 and was dominating at the net as well.
Erin Keeney was stout defensively on the front line as well, limiting any attack from Stillman.
Thurmond led the UAH attack with 11 kills and a pair of blocks, while Bauman racked up six.
Kendall Knisley played well also, finishing with three kills but making her presence felt defensively.
Wilson and
Alexis Deal led the way in assists as Wilson finished with 18 and Deal with six.
The win moves UAH over the .500 mark and improves their home record to 5-1 on the season.
UAH hits the road this weekend, traveling to Christian Brothers on Friday and Union on Saturday.
First serve in Memphis, Tenn., is set for 7:00 p.m.
