Brock Becomes Fifth UAH Player to Earn GSC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Chandler Brock became the fifth University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball player to be named the Chili's Gulf South Conference Player of the Week after posting big numbers this past week, the league announced on Tuesday morning.

Brock hit a scintillating .600 (12 for 20) in five games, in which he helped lead his team to a 4-1 record including a three-game sweep of GSC opponent Union. He has been a mainstay at the heart of the UAH lineup, hitting both second and third on his way to having the highest individual batting average on both his team and in the Gulf South Conference at .424.

The sophomore scored a team-high seven runs, while knocking in five. He recorded a double, a triple and even stole four bases this past week.

The native of Athens, Ala., has helped lead the Chargers to a top-10 ranking and a first-place tie atop the GSC with Delta State.  Brock has been of the many catalysts to power the UAH offense, as his team leads the GSC in multiple categories including runs scored, team batting average, triples and stolen bases.

Brock joins the likes of Blake Massey (twice), Cody Burton and Conner McCain as the Chargers' to earn the weekly honor this year. UAH  has earned the award more than any other school, as Andrew Busby earned Pitcher of the Week honors last week.

UAH will travel to Lincoln Memorial for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday and visit West Georgia this coming weekend.
