About the Chargers
LAST WEEK: The Chargers dropped two home Gulf South Conference matches this past week to Christian Brothers and North Alabama. UAH fell in three sets to the Bucs and four sets to the Lions.
CONFERENCE POSITION: UAH sits at sixth overall in GSC play with an 8-7 record in league games. The top five programs in conference matches are Shorter (14-1), West Florida (12-3), North Alabama (12-4), Valdosta State (11-4) and Christian Brothers (10-6). In addition to Tuesday's match against Shorter, UAH still has Mississippi College, Valdosta State, Lee and West Alabama on the slate to round out the season.
ON THE ATTACK: Haley Snyder had a successful week with 16 kills and a .307 hitting percentage. The junior is third on the roster with 156 kills in 2014, with
Anna Claire Johnson (240) and
Olivia Bauman (224) leading the way. UAH is tied for third in the GSC with a .204 swinging percentage and seventh in overall kills at 1,046. Sophomore
Rachel Brugman leads UAH with a .289 hitting percentage which ranks fifth in the GSC.
DEFENSIVE POSTURE: The Chargers are fourth in the conference with 14.59 digs per set, led by junior
Kennedie Lariscy with a 3.84 dig per set average. This past weekend, Lariscy notched 30 total digs and finished the week with 4.29 digs per set. She has a team-high 319 digs this season and has posted 15 digs or more on 10 occasions this season.
SENIOR SETTER: Ashton Baker leads UAH with 517 assists in the 2014 season, following 58 assists this past weekend against Christian Brothers and North Alabama. She has totaled 30 assists or more in 10 matches this season, reaching a season-high 49 assists against Trevecca Nazarene (10/14).
THE HOME STRETCH: After Tuesday's home contest against Shorter, the Chargers will be on the road over the weekend against Mississippi College and Valdosta State. Next week, UAH is on the road at Lee (Nov. 4) and at home against West Alabama (Nov. 6).

LAST WEEK: Shorter added three-set wins over GSC opponents West Alabama and Mississippi College in the past week. The Hawks have lost one conference matchup this season, which came on Oct. 11 against Valdosta State.
SHORTER PROFILE: The Hawks offense is led by Jasmine Crook and Elizabeth Dowd, who have combined for 399 kills this season. Crook has a team-best 207 kills, while Dowd has a team-high .206 hitting percentage. Defensively, Cheyenne McLemore leads the Hawks with 290 digs, followed closely by Dowd with 277 digs.
