UAH Softball to Host South 1 Regional as Top Seed
HUNTSVILLE | After an impressive campaign that saw the team compile a 43-9 record, the University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team has been selected as the No. 1 seed for the upcoming NCAA Division II Softball South Regional as announced by the NCAA Division II Softball Committee on Monday morning.
The Chargers – who will be making the program's 12th straight NCAA tournament appearance – will serve as the host team for the NCAA South 1 Region and will welcome fourth-seeded Rollins, No. 5 seed North Alabama and No. 8 seed Tuskegee. Action will begin Friday at Charger Park on the UAH campus with Rollins and UNA squaring off prior to UAH facing Tuskegee.
Hosting the NCAA South 2 Regional will be No. 2 seed Tampa, and the champions of the Sunshine State conference will host third-seeded Valdosta State, No. 6 seed Palm Beach Atlantic, and seventh-seeded Delta State.
The top two teams remaining following this weekend's pair of double-elimination tournaments will meet at the site of the highest remaining seed for a three-game Super Regional series to determine which team from the South Region will advance to the NCAA Division II Softball Championships.
The complete schedule for this weekend's South 1 Regional will be released later on Monday.
