HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville completed the WCHA series sweep of Northern Michigan on Saturday night by a score of 3-2 at the Von Braun Center in the finale of the two-game tilt. UAH is now 7-16-3 (6-12-0 WCHA), while NMU falls to 9-8-5 (6-8-4 WCHA).

Frank Misuraca opened the scoring with his second goal of the series and sixth of the season as he tallied at 9:16 of the opening period. On the goal, Brennan Saulnier dropped it back to Misuraca who slapped it past Mathias Dahlstrom's right shoulder to put the Chargers up 1-0, but the visitors responded quickly, tying the game at 13:03 as Barrett Kaib scored off a faceoff to make it 1-1.
 
A special teams strike for the Chargers would put the home team back in front, however, as Chad Brears capitalized with his team owning the man-advantage, wristing it from the slot at 16:31 to push UAH ahead 2-1. Brandon Parker and Jeff Vanderlugt assisted on the strike that was the third of the year for Brears.
 
The score would remain that way through the remainder of the first and well into the second, but NMU knotted the game at 2-2 with a score from Darren Nowick at 18:08 to send the teams into the second intermission tied.
 
Freshman Richard Buri supplied the game-winning goal on Saturday night to give UAH its second consecutive sweep at home. Fellow freshman Max McHugh earned the goal as he directed the puck off a faceoff back to Buri who slapped it past Dahlstrom at 5:35 of the third period to bring the game to its 3-2 final score.

Sophomore Carmine Guerriero improved to 7-9-2 on the season following a 25-save performance. Guerriero was crucial down the stretch yet again, posting 11 of his 25 saves in the third period.

This was the first time the Blue and White has swept Northern Michigan after earning the program's first win over the Wildcats on Friday night.
 
The Chargers will return to the VBC ice next weekend, stepping out of WCHA play for a pair of exhibition contests against the U.S. Under-18 squad on Saturday and Sunday. Both contests are slated for 2:07 p.m. starts.
