CLEVELAND, Tennessee | No. 23 Lee used four second-half goals to hand The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team its first conference loss of the season on Sunday, knocking off the Chargers 5-1. UAH slips to 7-4-0 (5-1-0 Gulf South Conference), while Lee moves to 8-2-2 (3-0-1 GSC).
It was the Chargers who struck first in the contest as
Hermann Bjornsson's perfect corner was headed in by
Jordan Wright in the 26th minute to give UAH a 1-0 lead.
For Wright the goal marks his team-best 10th of the season, while the assist is the third for Bjornsson who is second to Wright with 11 points.
With UAH maintaining the advantage nearing the halftime break, Lee would earn the equalizer as David Perez scored in the 42nd, and the Flames needed just 50 seconds to go in front after the half as Quade Marinell tallied in the 46th.
The hosts then added goals in the 53rd, 66th, and 84th to seal the contest.
UAH held a slight edge in shots in the contest, taking 12 to Lee's 11, but the Flames owned a 7-3 advantage in attempts that were on frame. Additionally, the Chargers earned four other corners in addition to the one that produced the score to hold a 5-3 lead in that statistical category.
Wright led UAH with five of the team's shots including two that were on goal.
The Chargers will aim to bounce back from the setback at the end of the upcoming work week as West Florida visits Charger Park for Friday Night Football. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
