MANKATO, Minn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell in the series finale at No. 20 Minnesota State by a final score of 4-1 on Saturday night at Verizon Wireless Center. UAH dips to 3-11-2 (2-10-2 WCHA), while MSU improves to 10-6-4 (9-1-4 WCHA).
The Chargers jumped on the board first on Saturday night as
Jetlan Houcher netted his fourth goal of the season at 8:13 of the opening frame, thanks to assists from fellow freshman
Adam Wilcox and junior
Matt Salhany.

Carmine Guerriero – who made his 11th start in net for the Chargers – helped the Blue and White to a 1-0 advantage through the initial 20 minutes with 12 saves.
Guerriero went on to save a total of 18 shots in the second period, despite Minnesota State taking the lead with three goals in the frame by Mike Huntebrinker at 4:12, C.J. Franklin at 9:57 and Jaden Schmeisser at 13:05.
A defensive struggle dominated the majority of the third period, until the Mavericks' Huntebrinker netted an empty-net goal at 18:18 of the frame to bring the game to its 4-1 final.
A Montreal, Quebec, native, Guerriero totaled 37 saves in the contest for his third-straight 30-plus save contest. His record dipped to 2-7-2 with the loss.
UAH returns home for a non-conference series against NCHC affiliate Colorado College on Dec. 18-19. Puck drops at 7 p.m. both nights.
