HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team earned a tie with visiting Northern Michigan on Saturday night, wrapping up the weekend series with a 1-1 draw. UAH moves to 3-9-2 (2-8-2 WCHA), while NMU goes to 5-5-6 (4-4-4 WCHA).

Trailing 1-0 after John Siemer scored for the Wildcats just over four minutes into the second period, the Chargers leveled the contest with a key strike early in the third period as Chad Brears setup Frank Misuraca who put it past Atte Tolvanen at 2:00 for his first goal of the season.

The helper for Brears marks the sixth of the season for the senior.

Tolvanen finished the night with 28 saves including three in the overtime period, while his counterpart at the other end of the ice Carmine Guerriero made 36 stops. Guerriero's 36 saves are a season high for the Montreal native.

In stark contrast to Friday night's contest, just five penalties were whistled, and neither team was able to convert on the man-advantage as UAH was 0-for-2 while NMU was 0-for-1.

The visitors held a 37-29 advantage in shots on the night with Filip Starzynski's six pacing the Wildcats, while Madison Dunn fired five attempts towards the NMU goal to lead the Chargers.

UAH will now hit the road to continue conference play, heading to Minnesota State next weekend for a two-game set. The puck is set to drop at 7:07 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
