HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team lost by a score of 4-3 in overtime in the WCHA series finale to Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday night at the Von Braun Center. UAH slips to 8-23-4 (7-18-1 WCHA), while UAF improves to 17-13-2 (12-12-2 WCHA).

The defining goal for the Nanooks came quickly at the 15-second mark of the overtime period, as Colton Parayko sent a slapshot past UAH goalie Carmine Guerriero for the 4-3 final.

Guerriero was strong in goal with 37 overall saves on Saturday night, despite his record falling to 8-15-3 on the year with the loss. Guerriero has posted 30-plus saves on 14 occasions this season.

UAH jumped out to a 1-0 lead as senior captain Doug Reid scored his third of the season 20 seconds into the contest, thanks to an assist from fellow senior Jeff Vanderlugt.

The Chargers lead held until 11:58 of the first when the Nanooks' Tyler Morely equalized the game at 1-1, with Parayko sending in his first goal of the game at 16:44 to take a 2-1 advantage.

However, Max McHugh got some space at center ice and worked his way near the Nanooks' crease to score his ninth goal of the season at 17:33 of the second period.

McHugh was able to put the Chargers ahead 3-2 at 6:37 of the second period as the freshman redirected a shot by Frank Misuraca past UAF goalie Sean Cahill. This was the first time in McHugh's career in which he posted a multi-goal performance.

UAF's Trevor Campbell eliminated the Chargers chance at a regulation-time victory with a goal at 19:54 of the third period, allowing the Nanooks to skate to a 4-3 overtime win.

Overall, UAH managed 19 shots on goal, led by junior Chad Brears and Vanderlugt with four apiece. Defensively, Brandon Carlson paced UAH with five blocked shots.

The Chargers will wrap up the 2014-15 regular season with a trip to Bowling Green for a pair of WCHA games. Puck drops at 6:07 p.m. CST on Friday and Saturday in Bowling Green, Ohio.
