PENSACOLA, Fla. | Picking up a series sweep, the eighth-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team defeated host West Florida 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference action. The Chargers improve to 16-5 (11-2 Gulf South Conference) with the victory, while UWF falls to 6-20 (3-12 GSC).

The two teams played to a scoreless tie through the first two innings before UAH would score all the runs it would need in the third.

Brianna Sullivan drove in the eventual game-winning run in the top of the inning, singling to center to plate
Victoria Crumpton, and adding to her team-leading RBI total,
Kaitlyn Bannister made it 2-0 when she doubled to center to send Sullivan home.
Â
Bannister's RBI was her 26th of the season.

Earning the win for the third time this weekend,
Kimberly Jack (8-1) entered the contest in the circle for the Chargers in the bottom of the third and worked around four hits in the next five innings to pick up the victory.

Jack was 3-0 on the weekend, posting an 0.00 ERA while allowing West Florida to hit just .143 against her.

The Chargers totaled six hits in the contest, and three of those belonged to
Victoria Frith who went 6-for-9 in Pensacola to raise her batting average to .377 to sit second on the team at the plate.

UAH will return to action on Wednesday when the team steps out of conference play to take on Tuskegee at Charger Park. The doubleheader is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
