Chargers Wrap Up 2014-15 Regular Season

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team lost the regular season finale by a score of 2-1 to No. 13 Bowling Green on Saturday night at BGSU Ice Arena in the final matchup of the two-game WCHA series. UAH ends the 2014-15 regular slate at 8-24-4 (7-20-1 WCHA), while BGSU finishes at 21-10-5 (17-8-3 WCHA).

The Chargers have secured the seventh seed in the conference tournament, and will be pitted against the second-seeded Michigan Tech Huskies. UAH will matchup against Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan on Friday and Saturday night, with Sunday evening reserved for a third game if necessary.

Bowling Green scored first for the second consecutive night as the Falcon's Mike Sullivan gave the home team a 1-0 advantage at the 5:13 mark of the first period.

However, UAH bounced back to tie the game at 7:54 in the opening frame on sophomore Brandon Carlson's fifth goal and 10th point (5g-5a) of the season. Freshmen Brandon Parker and Brennan Saulnier notched assists on the UAH score.

The Falcons' Mitchell McLain sent in BGSU's second goal at 18:56 of the first – which turned out to be the game-winner - to take a 2-1 lead over UAH.

UAH goalie Matt Larose made his ninth start of the season on Saturday night, totaling 26 saves on the night. The sophomore held the Falcons scoreless in the second and third periods, registering seven and eight saves, respectively, during the frames.

BGSU's Tommy Burke was equally stout in the second and third period with a total of 16 saves in the game and 11 in the middle and final period.

The Chargers managed 17 total shots on goal on Saturday night, led by Huntsville native Josh Kestner with three shots on target.
