PHOTO GALLERYHUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team cruised to an opening night victory on Thursday at Spragins Hall, defeating Stillman 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-14) on the first day of the 2015 Hilton Garden Inn South UAH Classic. The Chargers start the new campaign at 1-0, while the Tigers slip to 0-2.

Senior
Kendall Knisley excelled in the season opener, posting nine kills on a .500 hitting percentage and adding two block assists.
Kirsten Giles led the way with 23 assists, while
Holly Posey and
Teagan Holderfield anchored the defense with seven digs apiece.

In the first set, the Chargers racked up 22 kills with Knisley leading the pack with seven while
Alexis Deal tallied four putaways on five swings with no errors for a team-high .800 hitting percentage in the frame. UAH capped off the initial frame on an impressive 10-5 run to take the set 25-15.

The second set was even more lopsided as the hosts hit .515 for the frame, registering 17 kills while not committing any miscues. The Chargers were jump-started with an early 8-1 run en route to a 25-9 victory in the middle set.

Six Chargers recorded an attack percentage of .500 or better in the second stanza, and freshman
Lorah Yonce paced the team with four kills.

UAH was able to complete the shutout in the third set, winning the frame by a score of 25-14 thanks to a key 5-0 rally to begin the stanza. The Chargers had seven shutout wins overall last season.
