Breaux Sets Career Shutout Mark in 3-0 Win

MOBILE, Ala. | Larae Breaux posted her 10th career shutout to establish the UAH program record for career clean sheets, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory at Spring Hill on Sunday afternoon. The Chargers improve to 8-8-0 (4-7-0 Gulf South Conference) with the victory, while Spring Hill drops to 0-12-3 (0-8-2 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-Senior Maddie Maurice scored the only goal that UAH would need when she tallied in the 22nd minute. On the score, Riley Ridgeway played it to Sydney Pfankuch who played it across the box for a one-touch finish from Maurice.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Breaux faced 17 shots from Spring Hill, and the junior from Carencro, Louisiana, turned aside the three attempts that were on target from the Badgers.
-Ridgeway earned her second assist of the game in the 75th minute when she helped out on the second UAH goal which came off the foot of Sydney Pfankuch.
-Alexcia Alexander then iced the contest in the 83rd when she scored to produce the eventual 3-0 final.
-SHC held a 17-16 advantage in shots, but the Chargers were able to find the target more as UAH held a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.
-UAH earned seven corners on the afternoon, while the hosts recorded six.
-Alexander paced the Chargers with a team-best six shots, and her two shots on goal were matched by Pfankuch.
 
Noteworthy
-Breaux eclipses the previous mark for career shutouts of nine which was set by Sarah Sollie during her career from 2002-05.
-Breaux's 10th shutout comes in her 49th career game.
-With her three-point showing, Pfankuch reclaims the team's lead in points as she now has 19 on the year on the strength of seven goals and five assists.
-Maurice's goal is her third of the season, and the senior now has points in three of the team's last four games.
-With the two assists, Ridgeway now has three points on the year as Sunday marks her first multi-point performance of the season.
-Alexander maintains her one-goal lead at the top of UAH's goal-scoring ledger as her strike on Sunday marks the eighth of the season for the junior.
-Alexander has now scored at least eight goals in each of her first three seasons, and her career goal total is now 26.
 
Next Time Out
-UAH will wrap up the 2016 season on Friday when the team travels to West Alabama, and kickoff in Livingston is scheduled for 5 p.m.
