PENSCOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team's season came to a close on Tuesday night as West Florida eliminated UAH from the 2016 Gulf South Conference Championships with a 2-1 decision in the quarterfinals. The Chargers end the year at 6-10-1, while UWF advances at 9-5-2.

-UWF scored a pair of quick goals in the early stages of the second half with Chandler Castleman scoring in the 59th and Isaiah Lopez tallying in the 66th to give the Argos the two goals they would need for the victory.

Corentin Da Mutten pulled the Chargers within a goal late in the contest when he scored in the 88th off a corner. Earning the assist on the goal was all-GSC performer
Hermann Bjornsson.
-UAH had much of the momentum in the first half, outshooting West Florida 7-6 in the period including a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.
-The Argos, however, would use a 10-5 advantage in the second half to grab a 16-12 margin overall in the contest, though the visitors did own an 8-6 lead in shots that were on target.

-With his sixth assist of the season, Bjornsson finishes the year with a team-best 24 points as he also added nine goals. The 24 points represent a career-best for the senior.
-Bjornsson concludes his career in the Blue and White with 59 points as he scored 22 goals and posted 15 assists during his four-year tenure.
-Da Mutten's goal represents the first of his UAH career.
-On the year, 10 different players scored for the Chargers with
James Narke finishing the season as the team's leading goal scorer with 10.
