UAH Slips in Mariucci Finale Against Mercyhurst

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team dropped its Mariucci Classic finale by a final score of 3-2 in overtime to Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon at Mariucci Arena. UAH slips to 7-13-2, while MU improves to 8-10-1.
 
Turning Point
- After a 2-2 tie remained after 60 minutes of play on Saturday afternoon, Mercyhurst pushed ahead for the 3-2 victory in the overtime period with a goal by Matthew Whittaker at the 2:14 mark.
 
Inside the Box Score
- UAH jumped ahead early into the first period of play on a goal by Matt Salhany at 4:26 of the frame, thanks to assists by Hans Gorowsky and Madison Dunn on the score.
- After over 10 minutes of scoreless action, Brandon Parker extended the Chargers lead to 2-0 at 16:59, with assists again coming from both Dunn and Gorowsky.
- Both squads would go scoreless in the second period, Mercyhurst tied the contest in the third with goals by Jack Riley at 5:16 and Nathan Ferriero 10:13 prior to netting the win on Whittaker's tally in the overtime period.
- The Chargers dominated the shot-on-goal count with 43 shots on target compared to MU's 25.
- Sophomores Cam Knight and Gorowsky tied for the team lead with six shots on goal apiece.
- Senior Carmine Guerriero took the loss on Saturday to dip his record to 0-4-0 after posting 22 saves and allowing three goals.

- Parker has now scored a goal in five of his last seven games.
- Gorowsky's two-point game is his third of the season.
- Dunn registered two assists in a contest for the first time in his career.

- UAH returns to action in Huntsville next weekend with a visit from Minnesota State on Friday and Saturday night. Puck drops at 7:07 p.m. for both contests.
