Chargers Rout Linedenwood-Belleville 20-5

BELLEVILLE, Ill. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team capped off the weekend with a 20-5 weekend over Lindenwood-Belleville on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 20-5. UAH improves to 3-0 on the inaugural season, while LB slips to 0-1.
 
Sophomore Natalie Pachinger led off the scoring for the Blue and White with a goal 24 seconds into the contest, before Lindenwood evened the game at 1-1 with 28:56 remaining in the first half with a goal by Kendall Colston.
 
The Chargers would then take control of the matchup, scoring 10 unanswered goals before the midway point of the opening period to give UAH a commanding 11-1 advantage. Senior Megan Hart led the way in that 10-plus minute span with four goals, followed by freshmen Elizabeth Brown, Nicole Federovitch and Bekka San Souci with two tallies apiece.
 
Lindenwood was able to break the UAH string of goals with a marker at 11:43, but the Blue and White proceeded to score four consecutive goals to round out the first half for a 15-2 lead at halftime.
 
UAH continued its offensive success in the second with four goals before the 15-minute mark for a 19-2 lead, highlighted by an additional two tallies for Federovitch. The Lynx rebounded down the stretch for three unanswered goals at 12:00, 9:23 and 7:38, but a late goal by Megan Hartnett at 3:27 brought the game to its 20-5 final.
 
Federovitch and Hart shared the team lead with six points from five goals and one assist, with Hart pacing the team with 11 draw controls.
 
The Chargers look ahead to a pair of contests this week beginning with the program's first-ever Gulf South Conference matchup at Shorter on Wednesday at 5 p.m. CST. UAH then plays its inaugural home game at Charger Park on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Indianapolis.
