ROME, Ga. | The 10th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team dropped the series finale at Shorter, falling 9-1 in five innings on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers slip to 30-7 (16-5 Gulf South Conference), while Shorter improves to 19-12 (13-8 GSC).

UAH will look to bounce back when it welcomes No. 4 North Alabama next weekend in yet another pivotal conference series. The two teams will square off in a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m. with a single game slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday to conclude the weekend.

The Chargers struck first in the loss on Saturday as
Abby Roberts singled in
Kaitlyn Bannister in the top of the first for her 33rd RBI of the season which ranks second on the team.

Bannister's run was her team-best 47th of the year, and she led the team on the day with two of UAH's five hits.

Shorter tied the game with a run in the second and added five more on a pair of homers in the fourth before a three-run home run ended the contest in the fifth frame.

Tyler Harrison picked up the loss in the circle for UAH, dropping to 18-4 on the season, but only three of the six runs she allowed on the day were earned.
