VALDOSTA, Ga. | The 12th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team wrapped up its three-game series at Valdosta State on Sunday, falling 8-0 in five innings to the host Blazers. UAH drops to 33-12 (17-10 Gulf South Conference), while Valdosta State improves to 33-9-2 (17-8-1GSC).

The Chargers will look to bounce back when they host their final home series of the year as Mississippi College visits. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Valdosta State scored a run in the first, three times in the third, and added four more in the fifth to wrap up the game early on Sunday.

The Blazers pounded out 10 hits on the afternoon while Caitlyn Calhoun held the Chargers to five, and it was
Tyler Harrison who led UAH's offensive effort as she had a 2-for-2 day at the plate.

Lexi Beach,
Kaitlyn Bannister, and
Sarah Jordan – the top three in UAH's lineup for the game – each recorded the other hits for the Chargers, and the biggest threat for the visitors came in the top of the third when Beach and Bannister singled in back-to-back at-bats to give UAH runners at first and second.

Calhoun retired the next two batters, however, to hold UAH scoreless.

Harrison picked up the loss in the circle for UAH, tossing 2.1 innings in the contest, and
Kimberly Jack pitched a pair of innings in relief.
