Kaitlyn Bannister's historic weekend continued on Saturday as she became only the sixth NCAA Division II player to hit two grand slams in a game while establishing UAH's single-season record for RBI in the process, helping lift The University of Alabama in Huntsville to a doubleheader sweep of Union as UAH won 5-1 and 18-4.

The Chargers close the regular season at 38-13 (22-11 GSC), while UU falls to 10-42 (3-30 GSC).

Bannister also became only the third player in Division II history to record four grand slams in a season with the pair in the day's second game, and with a total of 10 more RBI on Saturday, she breaks Beth Lawson's single-season record as the Albertville, Alabama, native has now driven in 80 runs on the season.

In total this weekend, the junior was 7-for-12 with 20 RBI, eight runs, four home runs, a double, while also racking up 12 assists and no errors from her spot at third. She drove in a UAH-record 10 runs in Friday's series opener.

UAH will now wait to see where it will be seeded for the 2016 Gulf South Conference Championships that will start Thursday at North Alabama.

In the closest game of the series, it was
Taylor Wascavage that starred for the Chargers as the freshman belted her fifth and sixth home runs of the season with solo shots in the second and fourth innings, and she finished the contest 3-for-3.

The Chargers totaled 11 hits in the game, and
Savannah Smith,
Emily Glover, and
Kelly Campbell each had a pair including an RBI double from Glover that opened the scoring in the first and a run-producing single from Smith in the sixth that gave UAH its fifth run.

Bannister drove in a run in the fifth when she reached on an error with Smith scurrying home on the play.
Â
Kimberly Jack picked up her second win in as many games in the circle for UAH, scattering six hits and giving up just the one run while striking out a batter and walking none.

It was the second game that saw Bannister do the most damage on Saturday as she had the two grand slams with one in the third and the other in the fourth, and the reigning GSC Player of the Year drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to give her nine RBI in the contest.

Bannister's performance helped the Chargers pound out 14 hits in the game, and six other UAH players helped drive in runs in the game with
Abby Roberts and
Jada Hayes driving in a pair and
Brianna Sullivan,
Haley Thompson, Smith, and Campbell each knocking in one.

Sullivan, Thompson, and
Jada Hayes joined Bannister in recording a pair of hits in the game, while Smith recorded her eighth homer of the season.

The Chargers scored five times in the first, and after Union answered with four in the bottom half, UAH plated two in the second, four in the third, five in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Taylor Doriety recorded the win in the circle to move to 5-0 on the season.
