UAH Concludes Season with 3-0 Setback to West Alabama

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team fell on Thursday night in its season finale, dropping a 3-0 decision to visiting West Alabama. The Chargers end the year at 6-11-0 (4-10-0 Gulf South Conference), while UWA moves on at 9-7-0 (7-6-0 GSC).
 
Turning Points
-The visitors opened the scoring in the first half as Ellie McKenzie scored in the 16th minute, and that would remain the score through the halftime break.
-The Tigers then scored quickly to open the second half, with Marie Dreezen tallying in the 46th before TeMia Pride scored in the 48th to create the eventual 3-0 final.
 
Inside the Box Score
-West Alabama established a 15-7 advantage in shots while also owning a 5-3 edge in shots on goal in the game.
-The Tigers earned seven corners in the game, while the hosts had two efforts from the corner flag.
-Riley Ridgeway paced the team with two shots, and each of Claire Almaraz, Alex Barnett, and Abby Burd recorded an attempt that was on frame.
-Megan Buford recorded two stops in goal while taking the setback.
 
Noteworthy
-The contest marks the final one in the careers of Raichele Langford, Sydney Pfankuch, and Ridgeway, and the trio was honored prior to the game in a special ceremony.
-Ridgeway finishes the year as UAH's leader in points as she finished with 16 from a team-best six goals while also leading the Chargers with four assists.
-Buford ends her freshman campaign as the current GSC leader in saves as she has 87.
