HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team slipped in the series opener on Friday night at the Von Braun Center as Lake Superior State took the opening WCHA series matchup by a 3-1 final. UAH dips to 3-7-1 (2-2-1 WCHA), while LSSU dips to 3-7-3 (2-3-2 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- Lake Superior State's two-goal first period was all the Lakers needed on Friday night as the second goal of the frame by Jake Hand at 18:33 proved to be the game-winner for the visitors in the matchup.

- The Lakers were first on the board in the opening game of the two-game series as Diego Cuglietta converted a LSSU power play at 5:18 to give the visitors a 1-0 lead early.
