UAH Falls to Shorter at GSC Tournament to Conclude 2017 Campaign

Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team's season came to a close on Friday afternoon in the first round of the GSC tournament as the fourth-seeded Chargers fell to No. 5 seed Shorter by a score of 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 22-25) on the campus of West Florida. UAH ends the season at 23-12, while SU improves to 19-10.
 
Turning Point
- After UAH notched a come-from-behind 25-23 win in the second to knot the score at 1-1, Shorter proceeded to take the lead in the third on a 25-21 win before winning the match in four sets with a 25-22 victory in the fourth.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Anna LeDuc paced the UAH offense with 13 kills on a .229 hitting percentage in the match in addition to posting 11 digs to notch the double-double.
- LeDuc was joined in double-digit kills by Anna Claire Johnson who had 11 successful swats in the contest while also adding two block assists and six digs on defense.
- Haley Hop anchored the UAH defense with a team-high 20 digs in addition to chipping in five assists.
- Kirsten Giles also recorded a double-double in the contest with a team-high 18 assists as well as 11 digs.
- Isabelle Barnes and Jordan Grammer tied for the team lead defensively with seven total blocks apiece.
- Five different Chargers had two blocks or more.
- Sabrina Duncan finished second to Giles on the roster with 13 assists.
- The Chargers held Shorter to a .149 hitting percentage as a team.
 
Noteworthy
- Johnson finishes her career with 1124 total kills, which is the most by a Charger in the 25-point rally scoring era.
- The Chargers 14 total blocks as a team are a season-high.
