UAH Falls to Bemidji State 4-1 in Series Finale

BEMIDJI, Minn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell to rival Bemidji State by a final score of 4-1 on Saturday night in the WCHA series finale at the Sanford Center. UAH dips to 6-14-2 (5-9-2 WCHA), while BSU improves to 9-6-5 (6-4-4 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- Bemidji State's goal by Zach Whitecloud 18 seconds into the second period proved to be the difference in the rivalry matchup as it gave the hosts a 2-1 lead on the way to a 4-1 win over UAH on Saturday night.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- After 10-plus minutes of scoreless activity on Saturday in the opening period, Bemidji State broke through the scoreless tie at 12:52 on a goal by Jay Dickman.
- BSU took a 1-0 lead into intermission but would quickly score again just 18 seconds into the second period on Whitecloud's game-winning tally.
- The Chargers ended the Beavers shutout bid at the 5:13 mark of the second when Huntsville native Josh Kestner struck for his 14th goal of the season. Kestner was assisted by both freshman Levi Wunder and fellow senior Richard Buri on the play.
- Bemidji State added to its lead with two more goals in the second stanza by Adam Brady at 15:57 on the power play and Gerry Fitzgerald at 19:19 before a scoreless third brought the game to its 4-1 final score.

- The Chargers put 23 shots on goal in total on Saturday, led by Hans Gorowsky, Kestner and John Teets with three apiece.
- Both Wunder and Buri have three assists each this season thanks to their helpers on Kestner's goal.
- Jordan Uhelski's record in goal slipped to 6-10-2, recording 28 saves and four goals allowed in the loss.
- UAH held Bemidji State to one goal in three power play chances.
- The Chargers went 26-for-66 in the face-off circle.
 
Noteworthy
- Kestner remains the UAH leading scorer with 14 goals in his senior campaign, owning a league-high 12 tallies during the WCHA slate in 2017-18.
