Â
ÂGame Changer
-
Kaitlyn Bannister put together an eight-pitch at-bat in the top of the first inning, eventually singling through the left side to plate UAH's first run as part of a showing in which the senior would go 3-for-4 with two RBI to aid the Chargers in the victory.
Â
Inside the Box Score
-
Tyler Harrison went the distance in the circle for the Chargers, working around six hits and giving up just the one run while striking out three and walking none, and she moves to 3-2 on the year with the victory.
-Bannister's three-hit performance helped allow the guests to outhit Barry by a 10-6 clip.
-
Reagan Malone scored twice in the contest, including the first run of the game after she had tripled with one out in the top of the first.
-Eight of the nine spots in the UAH lineup had a hit in the game.
Â
Key Plays
-After scoring the run in the first thanks to the triple from Malone and RBI single from Bannister, the score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Chargers until the sixth inning.
-In the top half of the sixth, Harrison provided herself with some insurance as she singled in Bannister who had singled to lead off the inning before stealing second and moving to third on a productive ground out by
Taylor Wascavage.
-Barry threatened in the home half, owning runners at second and third with just one out in the frame, but the Chargers would turn a 1-3-2 double play to end the inning.
-Bannister and Wascavage then drove in a run each in the top of the seventh before a Barry home run in the bottom half created the 4-1 final.
Â

-Bannister now owns 19 RBI on the season.

Â
Game Changer
-
Emily Glover allowed just three hits and a pair of unearned runs while walking only two and striking out six to give the Chargers their first doubleheader sweep of the season, and she improved her record to 5-1 on the year.
Â
Inside the Box Score
-UAH was also limited to three hits in the game, but two of the three proved to be quite timely with Harrison and
Shannon Long driving in runs on theirs.
-The Chargers also showed a steady approach at the plate that resulted in the team drawing eight walks including a pair from
Haley Thompson at the top of the order.
-Thompson, Malone, Wascavage, and
Jada Hayes all scored in the game.
Â
Key Plays
-After Thompson and Malone led off the first by drawing walks, Bannister moved the pair over with an unselfish sacrifice bunt to allow them to be standing at second and third later in the frame when Harrison singled into center to plate the pair and give UAH a 2-0 lead.
-The Bucs then scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie it at 2-2, but after Hayes walked and was sacrificed over to second by
Ashley Cornell, Long singled down the left field line to plate her and put the Chargers back up 3-2 in the top of the second.
-UAH then used a total of four walks in the third including one with the bases loaded from
Sarah Jordan to extend the lead for the guests to 4-2.
-Glover then permitted just one more hit the rest of the way and retired the last 10 batters she faced in order to seal the victory.
Â
Noteworthy
-Glover now owns the team lead in strikeouts as she has 39 in 34.2 innings pitched – a mark that is better than the amount struck out by eight teams in the GSC.
-The eight walks tie the season high for the Chargers as the team also drew eight free passes against Missouri-St. Louis last weekend.
-The Chargers have scored a GSC-best 83 runs on the year, and the only three players in the league to be in double figures in runs come from UAH – Thompson with 16, Malone with 12, and Bannister with 10.
