UAH Opens GSC Play with 12-11 Win at Shorter

ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team kicked off Gulf South Conference play with a 12-11 victory at Shorter on Wednesday afternoon at Ben Brady Field. UAH improves to 2-0 (1-0 GSC), while SU slips to 2-1 (0-1 GSC).
 
Turning Point
- A back-and-forth affair for most of the contest, UAH benefitted from an 8-7 advantage after the first half on Wednesday – led by Natalie Pachinger's three first-half goals – en route to the 12-11 win over Shorter to open league play.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Pachinger, a junior, led the Chargers offense with four goals in the victory, followed by Jenna Carr, Kinta Schott and Shannon Kruse with two markers apiece.
- A Mentor, Ohio, native, Pachinger also had a strong presence overall with a team-best seven ground balls, five caused turnovers and four draw controls.
- Carr, Schott and Federovitch followed Pachinger in ground balls with three each.
- Carr notched three points in the game with an additional assist.
- Leslie Allen Brown improved to 2-0 in goal after totaling 13 saves and allowed 11 goals.
- The Chargers totaled 26 shots on goal, paced by Pachinger and Carr with five each.

- Pachinger's four goals were a season-high for the junior.
