FLORENCE, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team dropped a 3-2 decision in extra innings at North Alabama on Sunday afternoon. The Chargers slip to 27-10 (15-6 Gulf South Conference), while the Lions improve to 23-12 (13-8 GSC).

UAH remains in a tie for first place in the GSC with Valdosta State as the Blazers were tripped up on Sunday by Mississippi College.

Game Changer
-UNA scored a tying run in both the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings and then scored the game-winning run in the eighth.

-The Lions outhit the Chargers by a 9-6 margin, with
Reagan Malone and
Erin Jewell both having two-hit days for UAH.

Kaitlyn Bannister – with a solo home run – and
Brooke Miller had the other two hits for UAH.
-Bannister also walked three times in the game, while
Shannon Long earned a pair of free passes to help the team total six in the game.
-UAH left 11 runners on base in the contest.

Tyler Harrison was charged with the loss in the circle for UAH as she surrendered seven hits and the three runs while striking out three and walking none.

-Bannister got the Chargers on the board with her home run in the first, and the 1-0 lead for the Chargers would remain until the sixth inning.
-Before that point, the guests did turn in some fine defensive play including a heads-up, inning-ending double play in the fourth and a fantastic running catch on a foul ball by
Emily Glover to end the fifth, but the Lions would manufacture a run in the bottom of the sixth to level the contest at 1-1.
-The Chargers produced a run of their own in the top of the seventh as Malone singled, moved to second on a sac bunt by
Ashley Cornell, and then raced home when Jewell singled through the right side, putting UAH back up 2-1, but UNA would score in the home half of the inning and not allow UAH to threaten in the eighth before winning in the bottom frame.

-The home run for Bannister is her 12th of the season, and the senior now owns 49 RBI while extending her hitting streak to eight games.
-Malone now owns four multi-hit games on the season with her third two-hit game.
