SAINT LEO, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team fought off elimination by earning a 9-7 win over second-seeded and host Saint Leo on Saturday before concluding the season with a 4-2 loss in eight innings to the No. 7 seed North Alabama.

Game Changer
-After letting Saint Leo score four times in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Chargers scored three times with
Erin Jewell,
Emily Glover, and
Shannon Long each driving in runs, and the team would pick up three runs of insurance in the seventh to aid in picking up the victory.

Kaitlyn Bannister had a terrific performance as she went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles while scoring four times and driving in two runs.

Emily Glover earned the start and also pitched the final two innings while working around nine hits and giving up six runs of which four were earned, and Harrison picked up three outs in the fifth to earn the victory.

-Saint Leo struck first with a run in the bottom of the first, and that score would stand until the top of the third inning when Harrison drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Bannister and level the contest at 1-1.
-After Glover stranded a pair of Lions in the bottom of the third, UAH went up 3-1 when Miller singled up the middle to score Bannister and Cornell, but the hosts would respond with the four-run fifth to go ahead 5-3.
-UAH responded with the three runs in the sixth with Jewell recording a run-producing single, Glover doubling in a run, and Long hitting a sacrifice fly, and the team added two more runs with a Bannister double and another Jewell single in the seventh to go up 9-5.
-The Lions would score twice in the bottom of the frame but could do no further damage in creating the 9-7 final.

-The four-hit game for Bannister is her third of the season, and it is the sixth time in her career she has recorded four in a game.
-Jewell matches her season high with the three hits after previously recording three against West Alabama on April 29.
-Harrison picked up her 21st win of the season in the circle.

-After a scoreless first, North Alabama got on the board first with a run in the second, and the score stayed 1-0 until with two outs in the third, Hayes singled and then scored on a Bannister double to make it 1-1.
-The Chargers then went ahead in the bottom of the fourth when Long doubled in Miller who started the frame with a leadoff double.
-North Alabama would hit three straight singles with an out in the top of the fifth to level the contest at 2-2, but Glover induced an inning-ending 1-5-3 double play to keep the game tied.
-Neither team was able to do much offensively after that until the eighth when UNA had three hits including a two-run single from Shelby Woodard.

-Bannister finishes the season with a single-season UAH batting average of .482 to go along with her 73 RBI, 18 doubles, 21 home runs, 62 runs scored, and she ends her senior campaign with a .906 slugging percentage and a .545 on-base percentage.
