BURLINGTON, Vt. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team opened play at the TD Bank Catamount Cup with a 4-1 loss to host Vermont on Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse. UAH dips to 3-16-0 overall, while UVM improves to 6-8-1.
 
Turning Point
- Vermont turned in a two-goal second period with goals by Joey Cipollone at 3:41 and Ace Cowands at 17:51 which catapulted the Catamounts to a 4-1 victory over the Chargers on Friday night.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- After UAH goalie Mark Sinclair posted 10 saves in the first period to keep it scoreless, Vermont broke the scoreless tie with goals by Cipollone at 3:41 and Cowands and 17:51 to own a 2-0 lead entering second intermission.
-The Catamounts extended their lead to 3-0 as Vlad Dzhioshvili recorded an unassisted marker at 6:35.
-UAH ended Vermont's shutout bid at 11:29 of the third period when freshman Bauer Neudecker drove to the net and buried a wrist shot to cut the deficit to 3-1. Both Jack Jeffers and Andrew Dodson notched assists on the score.
-Vermont added a late empty-net goal by Matt O'Donnel at the 19:47 mark of the third to bring the game to its 4-1 final score.
