Strong First Half Pushes UAH to 23-6 Victory at Shorter

ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team throttled Shorter in a Gulf South Conference matchup on Wednesday by a final score of 23-6 in the lone game of the week's slate. UAH improves to 4-1 (3-1 GSC), while SU dips to 0-3 (0-2 GSC).
 
Turning Point
- After each side traded goals to a 3-3 tie with 24:47 remaining in the first half, UAH generated 12 unanswered goals to close out the half and lead 15-3 on the way to the 23-6 victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- In her strongest performance of the season, reigning GSC Offensive Player of the Year Nicole Federovitch led UAH's attack with a team-high 11 points from eight goals and three assists while also contributing two ground balls.
- Senior Alanna Carvalho followed Federovitch with six points on five goals and three assists, with a total of six Chargers registering two points or more in the win. Carvalho additionally ranked second on the squad with five draw controls.
- Kinta Schott had a strong overall performance with a team-best five ground balls and seven draw controls in addition to notching one goal.
- Megan Hartnett finished second on the roster with three ground balls while posting one goal and one assist.
- Ava Boethig and Carvalho tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with two each.
- Leslie Allen Brown started for the Chargers and played the first half of the contest, totaling four saves and three goals allowed. She improves to 4-0 on the year.
- Haleigh Comp played the full time in the second half with a team-high five saves while allowing three goals as well.
- UAH held the edge over Shorter in shots on goal (35-15), ground balls (17-14), and draw controls (16-15).

- After the 3-3 tie with 24:47 remaining in the first, UAH utilized a 12-0 run to close out the half for a 15-3 lead.
- The Chargers offense continued to dominate in the second half with eight goals to Shorter's three to cap off the 23-6 win.
