UAH Cruises to Three-Set Victory over Talladega

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team registered a 3-0 win (25-12, 25-20, 25-4) on Saturday afternoon over Talladega on the final day of the AUM Tournament. UAH improves to 5-2 on the year, while TC slips to 1-6.
 
Turning Point
- The Chargers closed out the first set on a 14-0 run against the Tornadoes to key a 25-12 victory in the frame, followed by wins in the second and third frames by scores of 25-20 and 25-4 for the three-set victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Caroline Sanford paced the UAH attack in the victory over Talladega with a team-high eight kills on a .333 hitting percentage.
- Nine Chargers had at least two kills in the contest.
- Ali Lowe followed Sanford with six kills and a .417 swing rate, with Jordan Grammer and Kendall Scharbert each posting five kills apiece.
- Scharbert's .625 hitting percentage led all Chargers with five or more attacks, and she also tied with Grammer for the team lead in blocks with two.
- Sabrina Duncan had a team-best 19 assists, while Katie Sharp joined Duncan in double-digit assists with 11 helpers.
- Isabelle Feliciano and Grammer each posted a team-best seven digs against TC, headlining a total of 10 Chargers with two digs or more.

- UAH notched a .244 hitting percentage for the match, while limiting Talladega to a -.117 swing rate as a team.
 
Inside the Action
- With UAH trailing 12-11 in the first set, the Chargers turned the tables with 14 consecutive points to close out a 25-12 win in the frame for the early lead.
- After taking an early 2-1 lead in the second stanza, UAH would not relinquish its advantage on the way to a 25-20 win in the set.
- The Chargers dominated the third set on both sides of the ball as the UAH attackers boasted nine kills on a .421 hitting percentage while holding TC to a -.375 swing rate en route to a 25-4 victory-clinching win in the stanza.
 
Noteworthy
- UAH has held opponents to hitting percentages of .100 or lower on five occasions in 2018, with Talladega's -.117 swing rate as the lowest against the Chargers this season.
- The Chargers did not lose a single set across three matches at the AUM Tournament this weekend.
