UAH Wins Fourth Straight with 3-2 Victory at Shorter Saturday

ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team outlasted Shorter on Saturday afternoon on the road in a 3-2 win (22-25, 26-24, 25-13, 19-25, 15-12) over the Hawks in a Gulf South Conference matchup. UAH improves to 11-5 (4-1 GSC), while SU dips to 6-10 (0-4 GSC).
 
Turning Point
- After Shorter forced a fifth set with a 25-19 win in the fourth, UAH went on a 7-4 run to close out the final stanza for the 15-12 win in the frame to seal the 3-2 road victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Abby Brooks boasted a team-high 13 kills while also notching a double-double with 17 digs which were third on the roster.
- Shayla Libby anchored the defense with 27 digs, followed by Katie Sharp with 22 scoops in the win.
- Sharp also recorded a double-double with 21 assists to her name.
- Isabelle Barnes and Molly Presnell each posted eight kills against Shorter to rank second behind Brooks on the day.
- Barnes contributed a team-high eight total blocks as well.
- Eight Chargers had at least four digs.
- Kendall Scharbert registered a team-best .357 hitting percentage on six kills.
- Both Brooks and Presnell had three service aces in the match to lead the squad.
 
Noteworthy
- Libby has reset her personal best in back-to-back matches with her 27 digs in the win.
- Brooks' 17 digs are the second most in her career, as she also collected her third straight double-double and sixth overall in 2019.
- Sharp's 22 digs are a career-high for the sophomore.
- The Chargers are 4-1 in their first five GSC matches for the first time under head coach Dr. Cade Smith.

- The Chargers return home on Tuesday at 6 p.m. with a GSC tilt against Auburn Montgomery at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.
