UAH Drops Close Contest with Carson-Newman Tuesday Night

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker on Tuesday night at Charger Park as Carson-Newman scored in the final minute of the game to secure a 2-1 victory. UAH slips to 3-5-0 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 7-2-1.
 
Turning Points
-The guests got on the board first with Matheus Maia scoring in the 25th minute, and the 1-0 score would hold through the halftime break.
-Just past the hour mark, Khalil Bell would tie contest for the Chargers as he scored in the 61st minute to level the game at 1-1.
-The game appeared to be headed towards overtime, but after Drew Kelly made a stop on an initial shot in the final minute, Nic Carsh was there to put the rebound in and give Carson-Newman the 2-1 win.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Shots in the game were even at 11 for each side, though Carson-Newman held a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
-The Chargers earned six corners in the game while not conceding one to the guests.
-Bell paced the Chargers with three shots including two that were on frame.
-Kelly made four saves in goal for UAH.
 
Noteworthy
-Bell's goal is the second of the season, and he now has 16 scores during his four-year tenure in the Blue and White.
-The four saves represent a season-best for Kelly who earned his fourth straight start in goal for the Chargers.
