UAH's Postseason Run Concludes with Setback in Semifinals

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team saw its postseason run come to an end on Friday as the seventh-seeded Chargers fell to No. 3 West Florida by a 2-0 score at Brosnaham Park.

The Chargers end the year at 7-9-3, while the Argos improve to 13-1-3.

West Florida got on the board early as Ed Chappe scored in the eighth minute, and that advantage would hold through the halftime break, with UWF not adding onto the lead until the 83rd minute when Hakeem Reid scored.

For the contest, the Chargers were outshot by a 9-8 margin including a 6-3 deficit in shots on goal, and the Argos would earn three corners while conceding one to UAH.

Rafa Moreno and Ethan Wilson both led UAH with a team-high two shots, and both of Wilson's attempts were on target.

Drew Kelly made four saves in goal for the Blue and White.

The contest marks the final one for UAH's five seniors in Khalil Bell, Steven Gallagher, Daniel Hearle, Garrett Manley, and Brayant Toro.

During their tenure, UAH reached the conference tournament in each of their four seasons including three straight trips to the semifinals and a championship game appearance in 2017.

The Chargers will return four of their top five scorers from this season, and the squad's two First Team All-GSC choices – Rafa Moreno and Ethan Wilson – will be back for their senior campaigns.
