UAH Closes Out 2019 Campaign with Setback to UWA

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team closed out the 2019 campaign on Friday, dropping a 3-0 decision to West Alabama at Charger Park. UAH ends the year at 7-10-1 (5-8-0 Gulf South Conference), while UWA improves to 12-4-1 (10-2-1 GSC).
 
Turning Points
-West Alabama got on the board in the 10th minute when Anele Komani scored, and that 1-0 advantage held until late in the second half.
-Megan Ongteco put the Tigers ahead by a 2-0 score in the 76th, and Temia Pride closed out the scoring in the 85th to create the 3-0 final.
 
Inside the Box Score
-West Alabama held a 14-6 advantage in shots including an 8-2 margin in shots on goal.
-The Tigers registered six corners, while UAH earned five.
-Brynn Colvin finished the game with a team-high four shots for the Chargers.
-Adriana Wright posted five saves in goal for UAH.
 
Noteworthy
-The Chargers honored their five seniors – Amanda Elsey, Lauren Mayer, Mia Penton, Rachel Collins, and Kirsten LaPlante – prior to the contest.
-UAH's seven wins overall and five wins at home are the most since the 2016 season when the team had eight wins overall and six at Charger Park.
-Colvin's season will go down as one of the best a Charger in program history as her 14 goals and seven assists are both tied for the third-most in a season and her 35 points are tied for the second-most in a season.
