Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

UAH Drops Series-Opener at No. 11 Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell to No. 11 Bowling Green by a score of 9-3 at the Slater Family Ice Arena on Friday night to open a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series. UAH dips to 1-13-1 (1-9-1 WCHA), while BGSU improves to 11-5-0 (6-3-0 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- Bowling Green scored two times in the first four minutes of the third period to make it five unanswered goals for the hosts on the way to the Falcons 9-3 win over the Chargers.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- UAH went on the board first at 6:08 of the first period when Adrian Danchenko slapped in a loose puck in front of the crease to give the Chargers the early lead. Connor Merkley notched the lone assist on the play.
- Daneel Lategan gave the Chargers a 2-0 lead at 15:10 of the first period as he took a feed from Connor Wood and wristed a shot past BGSU goaltender Eric Dop.
- The Chargers pushed the lead to 3-0 at 4:46 of the second period with a rebound goal by Tyr Thompson, thanks to helpers from Jack Jeffers and Liam Izyk.
- Bowling Green proceeded to score three unanswered goals in the second period by Will Cullen at 12:10 and Alex Barber on the power play at 16:12 and 18:53.
- The Falcons struck again quickly twice into the third period by Brandon Kruse at 1:46 and Frederic Letourneau at 3:38 to take a 5-3 advantage.
- Bowling Green went on to add four more goals in the third period by Sam Craggs at 7:39, Taylor Schneider at 9:41, Kruse at 10:20 on the power play and Cameron Wright at 14:29 to bring the game to its 9-3 final score.

- Mark Sinclair took the loss in goal to drop his season record to 1-9-1. He made 44 saves in the game.
- UAH totaled 12 shots on goal in the contest, led by Tanner Hickey and Lategan with two shots on goal apiece.
