UAH Falls in Series Opener at No. 6 Minnesota State

MANKATO, Minn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team hockey team fell to No. 6 Minnesota State by a final score of 6-1 on Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Center. UAH dips to 6-22-1 (6-14-1 WCHA), while MSU rises to 22-6-1 (17-4-0 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- A total of five goals by the Mavericks in the third period of the series-opener lifted the hosts to a 6-1 victory on Friday night.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- The Mavericks took the first lead on Edwin Hookenson's tally at 3:21 of the first, and the hosts would hold onto the one-goal advantage through the first and second periods.
- MSU went on to add four unanswered goals in the third period by Julian Napravnik at 2:08, Connor Mackey at 3:14, Ian Scheid at 10:29, and Parker Tuomie at 11:41 to give the hosts a 5-0 advantage.
- UAH ended Minnesota State's shutout bid at 16:56 of the third period as Kurt Gosselin backhanded a shot past MSU goalie Dryden McKay to cut the deficit to 5-1.
