UAH Battles on Saturday at Nationally-Ranked West Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams opened up Gulf South Conference play on Saturday, traveling to nationally-ranked West Florida. In the women's match, UAH dropped a 6-1 decision to the No. 2 Argos, while No. 4 UWF defeated the Chargers 7-0 in the men's contest.
 
The women's team is now 2-3 (0-1 GSC), while the men slip to 2-1 (0-1 GSC).

-The Chargers have won the doubles point in consecutive matches.
-This is the first time since the 2016 season that UAH has taken a point from the perennial national power.
-Kirchtag and Mehlich improve to 3-1 on the year as a doubles pairing with their third straight victory, while Lopez and Stearman are also 3-1 with a second straight triumph.

Noteworthy
-Hall and Rohrbach are a perfect 3-0 at the top position in doubles on the season after defeating the No. 9-ranked doubles pairing in Division II.
-Christen takes his first setback of the year at No. 1 singles, but battled tough in forcing a third set for his best personal showing in a match against UWF.
 
Next Time Out
-Both teams will be off during the week, returning to action next Saturday on the road at Southern Indiana. Both matches are slated for a 3:30 p.m. start.
