CARROLLTON, Ga. | The 14th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team made it four conference series wins in four tries this season, defeating Gulf South Conference foe West Georgia by a 9-2 margin on Sunday afternoon on the road. The Chargers improve to 22-7 (10-2 GSC), while the Wolves slip to 17-16 (5-11 GSC).

Game Changer
-Four different Chargers had a hit that resulted in two runs being scored, giving UAH a balanced attack that resulted in run-scoring plays in four of the seven innings to aid the team in picking up the Sunday victory.

-The Chargers in total recorded 12 hits to West Georgia's five, and each of
Amber Hammonds,
Mackenzie Nutt,
Ashley Cornell, and
Alaina Hampton had a pair.
-Hammonds, Nutt,
Kiara Akles, and
Shannon Long each drove in two runs, with Long hitting a two-run homer for her two RBI.

-The scoring for the Chargers started in the top of the first when Both Hammonds and Nutt drove in a pair of runs on singles through the left side to give UAH a 4-0 lead, but West Georgia would get one of those runs back in the home half to make it a 4-1 game.
-The guests immediately regained their four-run advantage, however, when Cornell reached on a bunt single, allowing Malone to score, and the score would remain 5-1 in favor of the Chargers until the fifth inning.
-Akles would double in Hampton and
Taylor Wascavage in the top half of the fifth, and Long homered in the sixth with Hammonds aboard to put the Chargers ahead 9-1.
-UWG completed the scoring with a run in the sixth to produce the 9-2 final.

-Long extends her team lead in home runs as she now owns six on the season, and that number is currently tied for third in the GSC.
-Malone has now drawn 33 walks which is 10 more than the second-best mark in the GSC, giving her an on-base percentage of .541.
-Murphy moves to 6-3 in the circle, and this is her fourth complete game on the year.
