HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team saw its campaign come to a conclusion on Thursday night as West Alabama defeated the Chargers 2-1 at Charger Park. UAH ends the year at 7-7-2 (4-6-1 Gulf South Conference), while UWA moves into postseason play at 7-8-0 (5-5-0 GSC).
 
The contest marks the final game for UAH's six seniors – 
Deivi Bucio, 
James Fee, 
Eddy Harvey-Latham, 
Rafa Moreno, 
Ethan Wilson, and 
Connor Young – who were honored prior to the contest in a special ceremony.
 
Wilson played in his 75th game on Thursday night, moving him to first all-time at UAH in matches played, and he also owns the UAH record for matches started with 74 in his career.
 
West Alabama opened the scoring in just the fourth minute when it was a penalty kick that Vince Stans converted, and the visitors would double their lead when Peter Oyetunji scored in the 40th.
 
The game remained 2-0 until the Chargers earned a bit of life for the closing moments of the contest when UWA scored an own goal in the 88th to produce what would end up being the 2-1 final.
 
For the game the Tigers outshot UAH by a 9-7 margin including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal, and UWA also earned five corners compared to four for UAH.
 
Jose Bannwart led UAH with two shots including one attempt that was on target.
