ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team earned a 3-1 win (25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23) on the road at Shorter on Friday evening in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 19-7 (11-2 GSC), while SU slips to 16-12 (9-4 GSC).

The Chargers defense had a stellar display in the four-set win on Friday with five players accumulating double-digit digs, led by junior
Molly Presnell with 20 scoops at Shorter to go along with four kills.

Freshman
Hailey Holshouser registered a season-best 15 digs against the Hawks, followed by
Sabrina Duncan and
Shayla Libby with 13 apiece.

Duncan additionally helped guided the offense with 38 assists to notch a double-double in the win with her 13 digs as well.

Kendall Scharbert generated a team-high 15 kills in the victory on a roster-leading .636 hitting percentage, followed by
Paris Morris with 13 kills and
Zharia Hubbard with 11 successful swats.

After the score was tied 10-10 early in the first set, UAH went on a 5-0 run and outpaced Shorter 15-7 on the way to taking the first lead on Friday. The Chargers turned the tables late the second set to win 25-21, before the Hawks edged out a win in the third by a score of 25-23.

With UAH trailing late 22-20, the Chargers put together a 5-1 run to overtake the Hawks for the 25-23 win in the frame which sealed the four-set win for the Blue & White.

UAH looks ahead to a 2 p.m. matchup on Saturday at Montevallo to wrap up the 2021 regular season road schedule.
