HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell to No. 3 Minnesota State by a final score of 4-1 on Thursday night at the Von Braun Center to open a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series. UAH dips to 2-8-1 (2-3-0 WCHA), while MSU improves to 12-2-1 (9-0-0 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
-Minnesota State scored three unanswered goals in the second period to overtake the UAH lead, as the Mavericks went on to win on Thursday night by a 4-1 final score.
 
Scoring Breakdown
-UAH went on the board first in the opening period at the 3:32 mark as Quinn Green wristed in the go-ahead goal on an odd-man rush by the Chargers. Both Bauer Neudecker and Tyrone Bronte assisted on the marker.
-Minnesota State evened the game at 1-1 at the 4:31 mark of the second period on a power-play goal by Andy Carroll, before the Mavericks took a 2-1 lead with a goal by Walker Duehr at 5:35.
-MSU scored its third goal of the second period at 12:42 by Cade Borchardt to make it a 3-1 visitor lead.
-The Mavericks went on to bring the game to its 4-1 final on a power-play goal by Dallas Gerads at 16:20 of the third.

-David Fessenden played the majority of time in goal with 29 saves in two-plus periods of work with three goals allowed. He took the loss to dip his season record to 2-4-1.
-Derek Krall relieved Fessenden in the third period, registering 13 saves with one goal allowed.

-The Chargers amassed 24 blocks in the game, paced by Ayodele Adeniye with six blocked shots followed by Lucas Bahn with four.

-Bronte has assists in three straight games, as he continues to lead the roster with seven assists in 2020-21. He is also the first Charger to 10 points this season with three goals and seven helpers.
-Neudecker is now alone in second on the roster with seven points on three goals and four assists.
-UAH's 24 blocked shots are the most by the team since the Chargers blocked 24 shots against Minnesota State on Feb. 2, 2019.
