HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team returned to action on Friday night at the Von Braun Center with a 3-1 loss to Michigan Tech in the first game of a two-game nonconference series. UAH dips to 2-6-1, while MTU improved to 10-5-1.
 
Turning Point
-After UAH took a 1-0 lead into first intermission, Michigan Tech scored three unanswered goals in the following two periods to take the series-opener by a 3-1 final.
 
Scoring Breakdown
-The Chargers went ahead first at 18:30 of the opening period as junior captain Bauer Neudecker cleaned up a loose puck in front of the crease for a 1-0 lead. Both Tyrone Bronte and Mick Heneghan notched assists.
-Michigan Tech evened the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal by Brian Halonen at 3:26 of the second period.
-The Huskies put together a two-goal third period with markers by Arvid Caderoth 31 seconds in and Tristan Ashbrook at 6:30 to bring the game to its 3-1 final.

-David Fessenden started in goal for the Chargers on Friday night, turning in 36 saves with three goals allowed. His record dips to 2-3-1.
-Fessenden made 10 or more saves in two of the three periods, including a game-high 16 stops in the second.

-Neudecker, Bronte and Tyr Thompson are now in a three-way tie for the team lead in goals with three each in 2020-21.
