HUNTSVILLE | The No. 13 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team made it a clean sweep of Shorter, defeating the visiting Hawks 11-7 on Sunday at Charger Park. UAH improves to 25-9 (18-6 Gulf South Conference), while Shorter falls to 4-30 (0-24 GSC).

Inside the Box Score
-Shorter outhit UAH by an 11-6 margin, but the Chargers drew 10 more walks and took advantage of three miscues defensively by the guests.

-The Hawks sent eight to the plate and scored four times in the first to go up 4-0 early.
-UAH cut into the deficit in the bottom of the first when
Kaylee Vaught drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 4-1, but it would be the second inning that would completely turn the game around.
-In total in the second, 11 Chargers went to the plate in the seven-run inning, and the biggest play of the frame was Hampton's single into right that turned into a bases-clearing moment as the ball got away from the fielder, allowing three runs to score.
-The game remained 8-4 in favor of the Chargers until the bottom of the fourth when Vaught homered to right-center, a blast which Shorter would answer with one of their in the top of the fifth to create a 9-5 score.
-Young would belt a two-run jack in the sixth to put the Chargers up 11-5 before Shorter scored a pair on a two-run home run in the seventh to create the 11-7 final.

-Vaught now has three homers on the year, while Young's is her second of the season.
-UAH now has 152 walks on the season which ranks second in the GSC behind Delta State's 153.
-UAH has won seven of its eight GSC series this season and has now won 10 straight conference games.
