Men's Soccer Season Concludes with GSC Tournament Quarterfinal Loss at West Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The UAH men's soccer team's season concluded on Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Gulf South Conference Men's Soccer Championships with a 4-1 loss at third-seeded West Florida. UAH ends the year at 6-5-6 overall, while UWF improves to 9-1-5.

West Florida moves on to the GSC tournament semifinals next weekend in Huntsville, Alabama, at John Hunt Park hosted by the Huntsville Sports Commission.

The Chargers and Argonauts went scoreless through the first 22 minutes of action before the hosts went ahead in the 23rd minute with a goal by Caue Novaes.

UAH evened the contest later in the first half in the 39th minute when Michael Weston scored on a penalty kick, which was his second goal of the campaign.

After heading into halftime tied 1-1, West Florida struck three times in the second half in the 64th minute by Keegan Ancelin, the 84th by Angelin again, and Marcus Pereira in the 87th, which would give the contest its 4-1 final score.

UAH recorded four shots on goal on Sunday, with Charlie Garrison, Colby Nesbit, Donovan Pruitte and Weston each putting a shot on net.

Ethan Haworth played the full time in goal for the Chargers, as he notched four saves against the Argonauts.

This was the 51st season of UAH men's soccer and the program's 17th all-time berth to the GSC tournament.
